The main characters in LOTF and The power of one didn't have power right away.  They earned it, but the difference is that Ralph lost the power to Jack, and Pk went through the movie trying to earn it.  Ralph had the power to rule over everybody on the island.  But PK gained power through out the movie, like the power to fight, and the power to learn.  The bully at the school in the beginning of the movie had the power like Jack.  The Bully in the movie maintained the power cause he was the oldest and he was ruthless one, he was also in favor of what all the other kids wanted, that's why he was so popular.  That goes the same way for Jack, he gained the power, because the other kids wanted to hunt and have fun, and Ralph wasnt like that.  In the power of one, the power structure is made up of 1. the whites, and the ones with knowledge (education).  IN The LOTF it s the one who has the conch shell.

The key passage i decided to write about was on pg.62.  It started with "The subsoil... was in ruins
the symbol i wanted to talk about was the stones that was thrown to Henry by Roger.  He threw it to him purpously, but in my opinion it was like henry loosing his sanity. He through the Rock, missed Henry, but got more rocks and kept throwing them at Henry.  The resaon why he purposly missed was because he still saw and felt that he would get in trouble if he hit Henry.  He could still see his parents and hear what they would say if they hit him.  You can tell he is getting desperate.  The theme i got from this was.  You can tell how you were raised, when your not at home.
I chose this THeme because all the boys in this story you can tell were raised well.  And if it was up to them, and if they knew how to survive better.  THey wouldnt have gotten as desperate to go home

The element i chose to write about was the Pig.  In the beginning sentences the boys were hearing loud squeals and a hard strike of hoofs. It turned out to be a baby pig caught up in a curtain of creepers.  The reason why i chose this was because the boys had no experience in killing anything.  They were still very innocent, and killing the pig to me was like a wake up call to the boys.  It was like a series of things to come, and the boys had to be read for it.  the effect of this was that you got to see that on the outside the boys were tough, but on the inside they were scared, and couldnt push themselves to go through with it.  That how it is in society, mostly boys think they are tough on the outside, but then on the inside when its time to do something, they make excuses.
